Tie-Dying Eggs

I meant to post this, oh, almost a month ago, but this past month has flown by us. I wish I could just stop time until I get caught up on my mile-long to-do list! :) I do have lots of posts lined up to show you all what we've been up to though.

Anyways, back to dying eggs, or as we did it this year,  tie-dying eggs. I found this post - http://www.freelancehomeschoolmom.com/diy-tie-dye-easter-egg-tutorial/, and thought it looked like a fun and different way to dye our eggs this year. And fun it was, although it was also incredibly messy. I had to take a few deep breaths as I saw the dye build up everywhere! :) I thought the eggs turned out fantastic so it was all worth it. We also dyed eggs the old-fashioned way as well.

Tie-Dying eggs takes a lot of concentration. :)

EASTER!

Easter wasn't quite the same this year with Jason being gone, but we snuck in an Easter egg hunt at the Benson park and a delicious ham dinner with friends the Saturday before Easter. I was so thrilled the government scheduled Jason to leave Easter morning for Kansas....or not, but we made the best of it. :) This year, I focused a little more on the real meaning behind Easter with Carson. He's really interested in Jesus and asks me questions all the time, so I thought this would be a great time for him to receive his first bible. I had done my research and came up with this one....the Jesus Storybook Bible, and Carson loves it so far. Owen will even sit in and listen and point to the pictures. We read about the Easter story and then ended up reading until the end of the book. Our crafts for the week also included a palm branch in honor of Palm Sunday, thumbprint chick cards for the grandparents, and a tissue paper cross collage that we taped to our front window. We also had another Easter egg hunt in our backyard after Jason left and dyed Easter eggs. We hope you all had a lovely Easter.
Carson and Owen at the Easter egg hunt at the Benson park. Jason said when the horn went off, Carson made a mad dash to the eggs and got quite a bit; I think he even made $3. However, our shy Owen clung to me the entire time. At least Carson was kind enough to share some of his eggs with Owen. It's crazy how different they can be, ha ha!

I love this! :)

Carson "helping" Owen. I'm pretty sure he just wanted to find more eggs since he had already found all of his! haha.

Benson Easter Egg Hunt

I found out this year that Benson has an annual Easter egg hunt at the park, so I thought it would be fun to check it out. Carson, now a seasoned Easter egg hunter, was off at the whistle, and was so into it that Jason said he ventured into the 1-and-under area hunting for eggs! Haha. First-timer Owen thought it was pretty fun picking up an egg or two, but then he got distracted by a small dog, and was only interested in the dog from then on. It was a fun way to spend the morning, and it's so great seeing people we know now at Benson events. It makes me feel like we're finally a part of this little community.

I love Owen's hair blowing in the wind in this picture! :)

Easter Weekend 2010

With Owen's arrival quickly approaching and Jason having to work that weekend, we decided to have a nice, relaxing Easter at home this year. Carson had two Easter eggs hunts, we dyed some eggs, and ate a delicious Easter dinner with our friends Dan and Autumn. Of course we didn't want to overlook the true meaning of Easter; so we read about the Easter story in Carson's children's bible, which he loves. He even wanted to watch The 10 Commandments with mommy, although he didn't last long - after the big day it didn't take him long to fall fast asleep.

Carson is a fan of peeps just like his mom. =)

Carson was very concerned the entire hunt because the easter eggs were dirty. He's never cared about his food or clothes being dirty before, so I have no idea where this came from! =)

Mommy forgot to bring Carson's Easter basket....bad mommy! Of course Carson didn't care. At least he got to use his Easter basket Easter morning.
