What the wind did...

The other night, we had quite the wind storm, with winds reaching up to 65mph. And one of our trees couldn't handle the gusts! Jason and a friend have since fixed it, so I'm hoping it will survive!

Yardwork

I haven't posted much the past couple of weeks because nothing special is really going on in our household - just a lot of yardwork! Here are some pictures of the barbeque area we made to the side of our porch, and the huge pile of rock we now have in our backyard, which is slowly dwindling in size as Jason and I shovel it around the yard. Talk about a good workout! Carson enjoys helping us in any way he can. He brushed off the sand on the barbeque area and jumped on the pavers to settle them into place. Now, he gets a kick out of using his little orange bucket and shovel to carry rocks to wherever we are working. He's the best little helper!

We have grass!

We decided to use some of our tax money this year to work on our backyard. Yesterday we had artificial grass installed. We went with the artificial grass because it's hard to keep grass alive out where we live and it requires a lot of water to keep it looking good. Knowing Jason and I, I'm pretty sure we would have been fine in the beginning in maintaining it, but we would have evenutally probably slacked on the maintenance, so we thought this was our best choice. It was too expensive to do the whole yard, but all we really wanted was a space for Carson to be able to play, and I think it turned out great! We all had a lot of fun rolling around in it after they were finished. =)

We plan on placing pavers around the grass and putting rock in the rest of the yard...hopefully soon. I'm also going to pave a place off the side of our porch for Jason's barbeque area. And evenutally we will put in more trees and bushes, and hopefully I can find a spot for a garden. I've been focusing a lot on decorating and painting the inside or our house, but I'm really excited to have finally started working on our yard as well.

My latest project

I've had it in my head that I wanted to try mosaic art, simply for fun, and I finally went out and bought the supplies. Here is my first attempt.I'm not sure what it is or what to call it, but it is hanging above the toilet in our guest bathroom because the tiles I ended up using matched the bathroom perfectly. It was really fun, although messy, but I'm messy whenever I do projects. I'd like to make something for the master bath next!

The painting process of our house

Jason and I have begun the painting process of the inside of our house. After tons of paint samples, we have finally decided on most of the colors, but it still feels like we have a long way to go. I thought it would be really fun to paint, but after a couple of rooms, I'm finding it hard to stay motivated, especially since we can only paint after Carson goes to bed. We'd much rather relax than bust our butts painting! But once the inside is all painted, we will be one step closer to making our house feel like our home.

Below are some pictures of our guest bathroom, kitchen and Carson's room. The rooms are not done, but it's a start. I'll post more as we continue the painting process!
