Much of our summer was spent staying cool in the sprinklers and pool in our backyard. Then the boys and I would lay out on our towels, and I would read to them from the Mary Pope Osborne
Magic Tree House books. Seriously, they are perfect beginner chapter books for boys with imaginations. :) Even Owen would usually lie on his towel and listen while eating his popsicle. We read and talked about Annie and Jack's adventures with dinosaurs, mummies and knights. This would often times lead to the boys grabbing their swords and we'd make up our own backyard adventures. These lazy backyard afternoons were my favorite - even with all our little outtings and playdates.
Check out the pictures below to see a few of our other summer activities.

Pinata Water Balloons! I can't remember where I saw this idea, but the darn balloons would not break! Haha. I guess that added to the fun. :) Next time, I will get a different type of balloon. |

Frozen Water Balloon Eggs - I hid little trinkets and money in the eggs. The boys had fun rolling them around the yard, smashing them with a hammer and trying to get them to melt to get their prizes. Although in the picture below they don't look like they are having too much fun, lol, I think they were getting hot and impatient. :P |

Who says you can't bathe outside in a tub? Lol. I love how Owen is trying to copy Carson in this picture. :) |

The boys never tire of feeding ducks. :) |

Isn't he just the cutest?! :) |
