My favorite fall activity - Pumpkin Picking!

I love fall. If I had the choice, I would want it to be fall year-round. One of my favorite things to do in the fall is head to the pumpkin patch with the boys. This year, a new patch, Dad's Farm, opened just 15 minutes from our house, so I took the boys one afternoon with some other moms from our mom's group. The boys loved chasing the chickens and petting the animals at the small petting zoo. They also took a little "train" ride and picked out some small pumpkins, since we were taking a field trip with Carson's class to Apple Annie's, another farm/pumpkin patch in the area. Owen found a pumpkin just his size and fell in love with it. He carried it around the house with him for the entire next week with a big smile on his face. I then had the boys paint their pumpkins, which they really enjoyed.
Next up, is Apple Annie's with Carson's class. We had a fun time navigating through a big corn maze and then taking a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch, where we got to cut our own pumpkins. Carson thought this was especially cool and took his job very seriously. :) We then headed over to the apple orchard, but was disappointed to find that most of the apple crop was destroyed due to an early frost. The boys still had fun running around the orchard and we bought some delicious fudge from the bakery. I think we all got our pumpkin patch-fill in for the year.
The settings were off on my camera, but I wanted to put a picture of them chasing the poor chickens. Boys will be boys!
