Carson's vocabulary has been expanding the past few months (more on that in another post), and today came his first phrase - "Don't touch it!" He was sitting at the dining room table with Jason and saw my puzzle I have been working on and told Jason, "Don't touch it." I'm sure it's because I always tell Carson not to touch the puzzle because he has already lost a piece and chewed up 2 other ones. I'm so proud of my little guy!

Dinner at the Melting Pot
One of Jason and I's favorite places to eat is The Melting Pot. It is the one place where we just splurge on food and money; therefore we don't go there often - otherwise we'd be broke and 20 pounds heavier! Here are a few pictures of our last visit there with Brenda and Steve. It was also Carson's first visit. He loved playing with the skewers and watching the steam. He did really well for it being way past his bedtime!

First Carousel Ride
I have been wanting to take Carson on a carousel since he was about 7 months old and finally his day came. He loves horsies (how he says it, so now I do too; my poor vocabulary has gone down the drain!) so I thought it would be a big hit. Well, it was until the carousel actually started moving; then he wasn't too sure about the whole thing. I was riding beside him and Jason was standing beside him keeping one hand on him, but that still didn't seem to curb his worries. So about halfway through after a lot of his head shaking no, no, no, he ended up on Jason's lap. I know he just needs to get used to it and he will love it, so I'm not giving up on this one; he'll ride again someday!
Before the ride started. This is the horse he picked on his own.

Still waiting for the ride to start...

It started and he's probably thinking...what's going on?!

Getting worried...

And on daddy's lap.

Driver Carson
Carson can now add driving to his list of expertise. His favorite thing of the day at Old Tucson Studios was driving antique cars. He knew just what to do and turned the wheel when needed. I think he felt pretty important! Although he was a great driver for being only 19 months, I am glad there are MANY more years before he is asking for Jason and I's car keys!

A Day at Old Tucson Studios
Staying with the Wild West theme, the next day we decided to head to the Old Tucson Studios. Old Tucson Studios has been the location for many film and television shoots throughout the years including Little House on the Prairie, Tombstone and many John Wayne and Clint Eastwood flicks, so it was fun to see all the memorbilia and buildings from the shoots. They also have gunfights, saloon musicals, a haunted mine, trail rides and rides for the little ones, so there was a lot to pack in one day. Here are some pictures from our time spent at OTS. The pictures of Carson on the antique cars and on the carousel are in subsequent posts because I have too many pictures! Overall, it was a fun, yet exhausting day!

Another Day...Another Trip to Tombstone
During Brenda and Steve's visit, we spent a day in Tombstone. Each time we go, we find something new and interesting to do there. This time we took a horse-drawn carriage ride and visited the Boothill Graveyard, where some members of the Clanton gang (who were shot by the Earps during the O.K. Corral gunfight) are buried. It was intriguing to see how some of the other Tombstone residents had died....i.e. in a stampede, by Indians, and many were shot over small disbutes over such things as love quarrels over women, how to drive cattle and even over a card game. Jason also bought Carson a play gun, so Carson had fun pretending to be a real cowboy.....now he just needs some boots and a hat. Here are a few pictures from the day.
