First Doctor Visits

Owen had his first doctor visit with Dr. Smith one week after his birth. He weighed in at 7 pounds 2 ounces, so he had lost two ounces. This happens often the first week before a baby starts gaining again, especially if a baby is breastfed exclusively, as I am doing. And Owen measured in at 20 inches long. He was perfectly healthy, except for being a little jaundiced. Carson had a little jaundice right after he was born as well. We have just had to place him in sunlight for an hour or two a day. After just a couple of days of doing this, I have seen a big difference.
Owen's second doctor visit was one week after his first - and this was the appointment I was dreading because he was getting circumsized. Owen weighed in at 8 pounds and 5 ounces, so in exactly one week he had gained a little over a pound! At least I knew he was getting enough to eat! I sat in the lobby during the circumcision, which took only about 20 minutes, and then the nurse brought Owen, all wrapped up, back to me. He looked so sweet staring up at me. The doctor said he did wonderfully, and it took less than a week for it to heal. I'm just glad that part is over with. Owen's next appointment is in June.

Here are some pictures from the first couple of weeks.
