First Trip to the Beach

I was so excited to take Carson to the beach, but then when we arrived in San Diego, I realized it was chillier than I had expected it to be. However, that didn't stop us from stopping by Mission Beach one day on our way home from Balboa Park. I had packed sand toys and beach towels and all that kind of beach stuff, and then we ended up not using any of it because of our spontaneous stop, but for some reason I think Carson would not have cared either way. He loved running from the waves as the tide came in, as well as picking up rocks and seashells and tossing them back into the ocean. Who needs toys when you have rocks and seashells? =) Even with the cool weather, there were still a lot of people laying out and swimming at the beach. I didn't understand it until we had been running around and playing for a little while, because once you are there and you have the beautiful ocean in front of you and the warm sand at your feet, you kind of forget about the briskness and just relax and have fun.

Carson walking towards the water. He didn't know what to think of all the sand at first; I don't think he knew that much sand could exist in one place!

First view of the ocean. I think he likes what he sees.

Jason urging him to step into the water. It didn't take much to get Carson in.

Running from the water.

Time to take off the jacket and really get wet. The water actually didn't feel as cold as we thought it would. He actually fell in a couple of times; good thing mommy had an extra set of clothes and a towel in the car!
